Willingness to Change

A weekly message from Fr. Thomas Keating on Awakening to the Contemplative Dimension of Life

English Transcript

Once you have submitted to or embraced
the transformative process and have some insight
into the fact that this is the purpose of life, its meaning,
your realize that this has top priority over all
the other considerations and that your other duties
in life need to be done out of this motive
so that the fulfillment of daily duties and commitments
is in the context of furthering this willingness to change.
The willingness to change is in direct proportion
to our awareness of how unmanageable our life
has become under the influence
of the false self.

Hope does not disappoint us,
because God’s love has been poured
into our hearts
through the Holy Spirit
that has been given to us.
