When time began,
the Word was
there
and the Word was face to face with God,
and the Word was God.

– John 1:1

Fr. Thomas stated in The Mystery of Christ, “The liturgy teaches and empowers us, as we celebrate the mysteries of Christ, to perceive them not only as historical events, but as manifestations of Christ here and now. Through this living contact with Christ, we become icons of Christ, that is, manifestations of the Gospel in the shifting shapes, forms and colors of daily life. The consciousness of Christ is transmitted to us in the liturgy according to our preparation. The best preparation for receiving this transmission is the regular practice of contemplative prayer, which refines and enhances our capacity to listen. … When we are properly prepared, it grasps our attention at every level of our being … .”

We invite you to join with us for Word of The Week, a weekly contemplative experience of liturgy, with reflections and sometimes videos of Thomas Keating, and practice suggestions for daily life. There is also an option to participate in two weekly Zoom-video prayer groups on Tuesday 8-9am and Wednesdays at 5-6pm  — both Central (Chicago) Time — which includes 25 minutes of Centering Prayer, a time of Lectio Divina with a portion of the week’s message and community sharing. An online community forum allows for sharing of reflections, as well as posting prayer requests and praying for others.

Past Word of the Week messages are available here.

This is an opportunity to go deeper into a contemplative life of practice and devotion.

The program is free and open to all.  A donation of $95 is suggested for the year and all donations are gratefully accepted.
