There needs to be an adjustment of at least allowing to stand with equal force the marvelous
theology of Bonaventure in which the purpose of Christ’s Passion and Death is not primarily to take
away sin – that’s an obvious consequence – but to invite us to become divine too. It's saying, "I'll do
anything, anything, to convince you of my love for you and desire to share all that I am with you
insofar as that is possible within the human container even when it's been expanded by every grace.
The cross then takes on this enormously positive vision once you accept redemption from sin as a
byproduct which is this absolutely open invitation to become God too, insofar as that's possible.
If you're thinking of becoming a saint, I give you credit but it's too low! When you're invited to
become divine, you don't have to worry about becoming a saint. If you want to become God on
God's terms by doing his will and loving him, it's all open territory. It's all yours.

Es necesario un ajuste tal que por lo menos se afirme con igual fuerza la maravillosa teología de Bonaventure, en la que el propósito de la Pasión y Muerte de Cristo no es esencialmente el quitar el pecado – esa es una obvia consecuencia . sino invitarnos a ser también divinos. Nos dice “Haré cualquier cosa, cualquier cosa, para convencerlos de mi amor por ustedes, y mi deseo de compartir todo cuanto Soy con ustedes,” en la medida en que sea posible dentro de un contenedor humano, aun cuando se haya expandido por toda gracia. La cruz entonces representa esta visión enormemente positiva, una vez que aceptamos la redención de los pecados como un resultado adicional de esta invitación absolutamente abierta a volvernos también Dios, en la medida en que sea posible. Si están planeando convertirse en santos les creo, ¡pero es aspirar a algo demasiado bajo! Cuando somos invitados a volvernos divinos no tenemos que preocuparnos por hacernos santos. Si queremos convertirnos en Dios en Sus términos, haciendo Su voluntad y amándolo, somos libres de hacerlo. La posibilidad es nuestra.
