The peace that surpasses understanding I do feel that Centering Prayer has given me that. I made a promise to God – not a deal – and I said: ‘You don’t ever have to show yourself to me again. I’ll just keep doing this.’ So that was a promise that I made and God pretty much took me up on that promise. So, I’ve remained faithful to the prayer now for 20 years. And every once in a very rare while I might get a little ‘something.’ But that’s not why I’m in it. I’m in it because of my love for God and this is a way of expressing that. And, as I said, I am completely aware of the presence of God in my life – even without the ‘bennies.’
Un fiel siervo de Dios
La paz que sobrepasa todo entendimiento, eso es lo que siento que me ha dado la Oración Centrante. Hice una promesa a Dios – no un trato – y le dije: “Ni siquiera tienes que volver a mostrarte a mi nuevamente. Yo simplemente seguiré haciendo esto.” Así que esa fue la promesa que hice y podría decir que Dios me tomó la palabra. Por lo tanto, he permanecido fiel a la oración durante veinte años. Y muy de vez en cuando puede ser que reciba “un regalito”. Pero no es por eso que lo hago. Lo hago por amor a Dios y esa es la forma que tengo de expresarlo.
