When we use the term “Christ,” we are referring to the divine nature that possesses the humanity of Jesus and which in John’s Gospel is called the Word and in Paul’s terminology is called the Son and Christ. Christ is the divine person who is functioning from the beginning of time, but became flesh in time in the humanity of Jesus Christ.
They speak of high and low Christology in theology and by that they mean one that emphasizes the humanity and one that emphasizes the divinity. Both are full expressions of each nature according to the thinking of the Council Fathers of Chalcedon. Jesus is fully human and fully divine without any confusion of natures. So that’s what the mystery, that is, what we cannot understand fully by reason alone, really means.
The evolutionary view of Christ is more Christ-like or higher Christology than the traditional one
because it reveals Christ as intimately present to all humanity. Therefore, [Christ] can draw
people to salvation or to God beyond, not only their religion, but outside of religion. For
instance, there are other ways that God leads people to himself which is art, science, love of
nature – all of these things speak of God.
La Visión Evolutiva de Cristo
Cuando usamos el término “Cristo” nos estamos refiriendo a la naturaleza divina que posee la humanidad de Jesús y a la que, en el Evangelio de Juan, se la llama la Palabra, y en la terminología de Pablo es el Hijo y Cristo. Cristo es la persona divina que está operando desde el principio de los tiempos, pero que se hizo carne en el tiempo en la humanidad de Jesucristo.
En teología se habla de alta y baja cristología, y con eso se refieren a una cristología que destaca la humanidad y otra que destaca la divinidad. Ambas son expresiones de cada naturaleza según la forma de pensar de los Padres Conciliares de Calcedonia. Jesús es completamente humano y completamente divino sin confusión alguna en sus naturalezas. Entonces eso, es decir, lo que no podemos comprender totalmente solo por medio de la razón, es lo que significa el misterio.
La visión evolutiva de Cristo esta más orientada a Cristo o a la alta cristología que la tradicional, porque revela a un Cristo presente de manera íntima para toda la humanidad. Por lo tanto, [Cristo] puede conducir a las personas a su salvación o a Dios no solo más allá de su propia religión, sino aún por fuera de toda religión. Por ejemplo, hay otras maneras en las que Dios atrae a las personas hacia Si, como el arte, la ciencia, el amor o la naturaleza – todas cosas que nos hablan de Dios.
