When you are in pain…

Q. When you are in pain, can you still practice the Welcoming Prayer if you take pain pills and/or tranquilizers?

A. Prayer is a relationship. In any intimate relationship, one does not have to be at one’s best to be loved and cared for. God expects us to use whatever healthy means are available to help ourselves. If what you are taking is with doctor supervision and you are striving with God’s help to be open to a growing relationship with the Lord – which I believe you are – then the Welcoming Prayer will always be appropriate. Take the time to follow the movements of the prayer. With repetition of the prayer, allow the healing presence of the Holy Spirit to permeate what you are experiencing.

Prayer is always needed no matter what – take full advantage of it.

Be blessed,

Fr. Carl.
