As one spiritual guide said – and I think is a marvelous insight – God doesn’t need anything from us, because he has everything. He doesn’t really need our praise or even our thanks. We need to do those things. The greatest thing and the only thing that we can give to him, according to this wisdom, is to let God love us. In other words, to let God do to us what we both need and want. But something in us says, “No. I have to do some of this myself. I have to prove myself worthy or I have to accomplish something.” But there’s nothing to deserve because we have everything as a sheer gift. We can only accept it.
Tenemos Todo como un Simple Regalo
Como dijo un guía espiritual – y creo que es una maravillosa forma de expresarlo – Dios no necesita nada de nosotros, porque lo tiene todo. No necesita de nuestras alabanzas, ni siquiera de nuestro agradecimiento. Nosotros necesitamos hacerlo. Lo mejor y lo único que podemos darle, según su sabiduría, es permitir que nos ame. En otras palabras, permitir que Dios haga en nosotros lo que necesitamos y a la vez deseamos.
Pero algo en nosotros dice, “No, tengo que hacer algo de esto por mi miso. Tengo que probar que soy digno, o que he logrado algo.” Pero no hay nada que tengamos que merecer, porque lo tenemos todo como un simple regalo. Solo tenemos que aceptarlo
