What’s the Eucharist about? Transforming the species of bread and wine into your body while, as Augustine says, this Holy Spirit of God is transforming the whole of your body soul and spirit into the Mystical Body of Christ, so that you become a living cell in this greater entity that as Paul calls it, the Mystical Body that is growing through the generations and building up the full stature or full age of Christ. Even modern science is reinforcing this marvelous image of Paul's because Paul speaks in terms of members of the body. Now we can speak of individual molecules or cells. So, there's another image that is also delightful it seems to me and that is expressed in the scientific idea of a holon. A holon is a holistic entity but an entity that is part of another whole which is bigger which is part of another whole, another whole, another whole all the way up to infinity, I suppose. So, in other words, all of creation looked at from this delightful perspective is just collapsed into a single holon or can be extended to infinity, into everything. And so, as a cell in the Body of Christ, we're also a cell in some organ of the Body of Christ, like some community which is a cell in a certain superstructure, like the digestive system, or the nervous system, which is a holon within the human body, which is a holon within the Body of Christ which is a holon within the Spirit of Christ, which is a holon within the divine nature of Christ the Word of God who is in the bosom of the Father. So there’s continuity from top to bottom and bottom to top. There is no separation. There is only distinction.Semana de noviembre 16 – Somos Holones dentro de Holones dentro de Holones
¿En qué consiste la Eucaristía? En transformar las especies del pan y el vino en nuestro cuerpo mientras que, como dice Agustín, este Santo Espíritu de Dios está transformando la totalidad de nuestro cuerpo, alma y espíritu en el Cuerpo Místico de Cristo, de modo que nos convirtamos en una célula viviente que es, como dice Pablo, el Cuerpo Místico, que crece por generaciones y desarrolla la estatura total, o la edad total de Cristo. Hasta la ciencia moderna refuerza esta maravillosa imagen de Pablo, porque Pablo habla en términos de los miembros del cuerpo. Ahora podemos hablar en términos de moléculas o células individuales.Hay otra imagen que creo que es encantadora y que se expresa en la idea científica del holón, Un holón es una entidad holística, pero que es parte de otra totalidad más grande, que a su vez es parte de otra totalidad, y otra totalidad, y otra totalidad, y así hasta el infinito, supongo. En otras palabras, toda la creación, vista desde esta encantadora perspectiva, se colapsa en un único holón o puede extenderse hasta el infinito, alcanzándolo todo. Por eso, al ser una célula en el Cuerpo de Cristo, somos también una célula en algún órgano del Cuerpo de Cristo, como una comunidad que es una célula en alguna superestructura, como el sistema digestivo, o el sistema nervioso, que son un holón dentro del cuerpo humano, que es un holón dentro del Cuerpo de Cristo, que es un holón dentro del Espíritu de Cristo, que es un holón dentro de la naturaleza divina de Cristo el Verbo de Dios, que está en el seno del Padre. Hay una continuidad de arriba hacia abajo y de abajo hacia arriba. No hay separación. Solo hay diferenciación.
