My view of the world has changed dramatically since Centering Prayer. I was in corporations for 14 years and getting things done, achieving goals. Other people were either helping or in my way, or usually seen as objects, and the contemplative view of things changes entirely because there is no place to go – we’re already here and there’s nothing to want from another person except to recognize Christ in them and to give them a chance to be loved by Christ in me. So, I think that it changes my whole day. It changes my awareness of tasks to be done and places to get because I am always in the center wherever I am. It most shows at home in the way I get along with my wife and the way she gets along with me. We find a lot more room in our hearts for each other’s ordinary human foibles and quirks. There’s just a lot more room for love in our world since we discovered Centering Prayer.
Mi visión del mundo ha cambiado de manera dramática desde que practico la Oración Centrante. Trabajé para una corporación durante 14 años consiguiendo que las cosas se hicieran y cumpliendo objetivos. Los demás o bien ayudaban o eran obstáculos, y generalmente los veía como objetos. La visión contemplativa de las cosas cambia todo completamente, porque no hay lugar adonde ir – ya estamos aquí, y no hay nada que queramos obtener de otras personas excepto el reconocer a Cristo en si mismos y el darles la oportunidad de poder ser amados por Cristo en mi. Así que creo que eso cambia mi día por completo. Cambia mi percepción de las tareas que debo cumplir y lo que debo alcanzar, porque estoy siempre en el centro, no importa donde me encuentre. Sobre todo se ve en mi hogar, en la forma en la que me llevo con mi esposa y en la forma en la que ella se lleva conmigo. Encontramos mucho más lugar en nuestro corazón para nuestras mutuas debilidades y peculiaridades. Simplemente hay mucho más lugar para el amor en nuestro mundo desde que descubrimos la Oración Centrante.
