Without contemplative prayer I would still be floating in that morass of asking for things and forgetting to be grateful and asking for more things and forgetting to be grateful – and sometimes saying: “ O yes, and thank you, God!” And sometimes not even believing that the grace that came into my life was his. Sometimes thinking: “O yea, I did that myself!” It keeps me aware of the beingness of each individual I come in contact with.

Sin la oración contemplativa todavía estaría atascada en un pantano de constantemente pedir cosas y olvidarme de agradecerlas, y pedir más cosas y olvidarme de agradecer – y a veces decir: “Ah si, y gracias Señor.” Y a veces ni siquiera creer que la gracia que se manifestaba en mi vida se debía a Él. A veces pensaba: “Si, muy bien, lo hice por mi misma.” Me hace ser consciente de la benevolencia de cada individuo con el que me pongo en contacto.
