I see three stages to the spiritual journey by
which I understand the transformational process that is at the heart and soul of creation. The first
step of our spiritual journey, we might say, is the realization – not just a vague acknowledgement,
but the realization – that there is an "Other" (capital "O"), which goes by many names in Christian
and secular history from the beginning. The second stage is to become the Other. What could the
third step be? There is a third step. Now, you have become united with Jesus Christ so much that
you can't distinguish yourself from Jesus in his divine human nature anymore. The final step is, there
is no other. There is no other. Whether you have a capital "O" or a small "O," everything in the last
analysis is the divine action. It's happening to you right now, and it's going to continue to happen.
All we're asked to do is to accept it.
Semana de noviembre 11 – La Tercera Etapa de la Travesía Espiritual: No hay ningún Otro
Distingo tres etapas en la travesía spiritual, que interpreto como el proceso de transformación que es el centro y el alma de la creación. La primera etapa de nuestra travesía es, podríamos decir, la realización – no solo un vago reconocimiento sino la realización – de que hay un Otro, con “O” mayúscula, que recibe muchos nombres desde un principio en la historia cristiana y secular. La segunda etapa es transformarse en el Otro. ¿Cuál podría ser la tercera etapa? Ahora nos hemos unido tanto con Jesucristo que ya no podemos diferenciarnos de Él en su naturaleza divina y humana. La última etapa es que no existe ningún otro. Ya sea que tengamos una “O” mayúscula o una “o” minúscula, todo, en última instancia, es acción divina. Nos está sucediendo justamente ahora, y va a continuar sucediéndonos. Todo lo que se nos pide es que lo aceptemos.
