Centering Prayer has deepened my awareness of the presence of God – not so much at the center of my being, as as the center of my being.  And this awareness really has made it more possible for me to understand the importance of trying to live in fidelity to that Presence, that is, to live in a way that mirrors the fact that God is truly the defining part of who I am. Coming to see how God works in us and how much we are a part of what God is is, I think, one of the most important things that humanity has before it. There is no path that is going to bring us to the kind of love and peace that would provide us the happiness we seek that is short of understanding who we are in God and how we are one in each other.
