We’ve this capacity for almost infinite happiness in a body that is filled with obstacles to realizing true happiness and mistakes. The programs for happiness created in early childhood gratify but only temporarily with what real happiness is which is an abiding state of consciousness that usually has a significant amount of peace or contentment attached to it. So, the tragedy or at least the struggle or the situation that humans are in is having an infinite longing and an infinite incapacity to realize it without grace. In other words, we’re in the situation where as humans with our degree of free choice we can’t go back to the innocence or instinctual behavior of our animal ancestors and we can’t become the divine human being that seems to be God's plan and which as Christians we believe is modeled for us in the person of Jesus Christ. It’s also that unity of the human race that makes it possible for God to become human in such a way that in taking one person to himself he takes everybody to himself so that we become, if we consent, certain incarnations of Christ in so far as we consent to this process of transformation and imitate his example. So, God then is trying to bring us to a new place. An extraordinary place. And it requires effort and yet it’s the place where we were originally created according to the Book of Genesis. Namely, we’re made in the image and likeness of God.
Consentir al Proceso de Transformación
Tenemos la capacidad de una felicidad prácticamente infinita, en un cuerpo que está plagado de obstáculos y errores para hacer real esa verdadera felicidad. Los programas para la felicidad que hemos creado en nuestra primera infancia nos gratifican, pero solo de manera temporaria si lo comparamos con lo que es la verdadera felicidad - un estado perdurable de conciencia que usualmente está asociado a una considerable paz y contento. La tragedia, entonces, o al menos la lucha - la situación en laque están los seres humanos - es tener un anhelo infinito, y una incapacidad infinita para hacerlo realidad sin la gracia. En otras palabras, estamos en una situación en la que, como seres humanos con un cierto grado de libre albedrío, no podemos volver a la inocencia o a la conducta instintiva de nuestros ancestros animales, y tampoco podemos volvernos seres humanos divinos, como parece ser el plan de Dios, y que , como cristianos, creemos que modela para nosotros la persona de Jesucristo.
Es también esa unidad de la raza humana lo que hace posible que Dios se vuelva humano de tal forma que al tomar una persona para Si tome a todos para Si, y seamos, si consentimos al proceso de transformación e imitamos su ejemplo, claras encarnaciones de Cristo.
Dios está tratando de conducirnos a un nuevo lugar, un lugar extraordinario. Y se requiere de esfuerzo, y sin embargo es el lugar donde fuimos originalmente creados según el Libro del Génesis. Es decir, estamos hechos a imagen y semejanza de Dios.
