I sometimes wonder
as I see the early morning frost.
Could it be that the blanket of white that covers everything Is compassion?
And the sky’s soft glow after sunset is empathy?
Could it be that the last sound of birdsong at twilight is kindness?
And that the shadows cast by the bare trees of winter are gentleness?
Could it be
That the colors of nature
that we see in quiet awe
are really shades of love?
And if we care to notice
perhaps we can hear Him say
I love you
In the depth of our hearts.
