One Step

We gather at the noon hour
Morning choices made, now past;
Silence at table, sit wondering
If the insights will last.

I’ve been here many times before
Well, in this kind of holy place;
Impatient as I return to ‘life’
As if transformation were more a race.

This time around it’s different
A palpable gentleness of hand;
Walking me forward, one step, one step
Whispering to “trust wherever I land”.

Fr. Keating’s visit on Sunday
Humbled us, reflecting on his choices;
One step, one step, listening and creating
The Silent Prayer, our souls’ true voices.
