Centering Prayer brought me back to God and an understanding of God. I think that it was more of a seduction back into the love of God. I was raised in a Christian community but really had drifted and had really gone more Eastern in a way and was attracted to the meditative aspect. And that was the seduction – the coming in for a weekend with a Contemplative Outreach training and then moving deeper, slowly, and then Fr. Thomas’ teaching on the Gospel really opened up for me an understanding of Christ’s teachings and what was really being transmitted by Christianity that I really didn’t understand. And the daily sits, the opening was really like a taproot into something much deeper that I really had not experienced before. And it was slow and steady. I’ve been practicing Centering Prayer for about 15 years now and it’s just gotten deeper and deeper over time.
