Part of the process of transformation involves the transcending of our over-identification with those programs for happiness in which we seek or demand from society the respect for our outrageous – sometimes – expectations for security symbols that the culture provides or the symbols of affection that are popular in the culture, or the kind of goals that our control and power needs have prompted us.
So that instead of seeking the security of belonging to groups that we consider not responsible, we may have to leave, whether these, as Gospel says, are family, or nation, or city, state, or whatever.
Trascendiendo los Programas para la Felicidad
Parte del proceso de transformación implica trascender nuestra identificación excesiva con los programas para la felicidad en los que buscamos o exigimos de la sociedad el respeto a nuestras excesivas expectativas de los símbolos de seguridad que proporciona la cultura o los símbolos de afecto que son populares en la misma, o el tipo de objetivos a los que nuestras necesidades de control y poder nos han impulsado.
Así es que, en lugar de buscar la seguridad de pertenecer a grupos que consideramos irresponsables, es posible que tengamos que dejarlos, no importa si, como dice el Evangelio, se trata de la familia, la nación, la ciudad, el estado, o cualquier otra cosa.
