Keep in mind that the only thing our Blessed Mother claims in her Magnificat as interesting God
in her particular humanity is her nothingness. It doesn’t build her surrender on anything else. “He
has looked with kindness on my nothingness,” it said. Some translations say “lowliness” but I
don’t think they quite got it.
Nothingness refers you back to creation where we come out of nothing and can do nothing of ourselves that has any relationship to deification or transformation. But we think so because we are trained that way in cultural belief systems that are congenial to our emotional programs for happiness but that, from the point-of-view of reality, are a lot of baloney! So, to feel and acknowledge and consent to our creaturehood, to be nothing, and to turn our life over completely to God, this is the fundamental principle and this only grows with time so that there’s this balance between our nothingness and confidence in God’s total presence and support system
No ser nada
Tengan presente que la única cosa que nuestra Bendita Madre afirma en su Magnificat que interesa a Dios de su particular humanidad es que ella no es nada. No afirma su entrega en ninguna otra cosa: “Él ha puesto los ojos en mí, que no soy nada”, dice. Algunas traducciones dicen “humillación de su sierva”, pero no creo que lo interpreten bien.
No ser nada nos remonta a la creación, en la que venimos de la nada y no podemos hacer nada con nosotros que tenga alguna relación con la deificación o transformación. Pero pensamos que sí porque hemos sido educados de esa forma en sistemas culturales de creencias que concuerdan con nuestros programas emocionales para la felicidad, pero que, desde el punto de vista de la realidad, son puros inventos. Por lo tanto, sentir y reconocer y consentir al hecho de que nuestra naturaleza como criaturas es no ser nada, y entregar nuestra vida completamente a Dios es el principio fundamental, y sólo se acrecienta con el tiempo. De tal modo, se produce un equilibrio entre saber que no somos nada y confiar en la presencia y ayuda de Dios
