I wasn’t even sure that God was real until Centering Prayer and then God became very real. It’s more than a matter of faith for me. It’s experiential. It’s a knowing beyond knowing. And one of my favorite things about the contemplative journey is the very simple, ordinary ways that God becomes real in daily life – like cleaning the house or taking care of my family or doing the work that I do. God is present and it’s known. It’s just known! It’s hard to say but it’s something that’s gotten deeper and deeper over time. It’s ongoing during my day through vocal prayers, through praying the Scriptures, through practicing the presence of God in ordinary life, through blessing people that I meet and work with, by acknowledging the Christ in the other.
La Oración Centrante: profundizar más y más la conciencia de la presencia de Dios
Ni siquiera estaba segura de que Dios fuera real hasta que llegué a la Oración Centrante, y entonces Dios se volvió muy real. Es más que una cuestión de fe para mi. Es algo que he experimentado. Es una clase de conocimiento que está más allá del conocimiento. Y una de las cosas que más celebro respecto del camino contemplativo son las maneras tan simples y ordinarias en las que Dios se hace real en mi vida diaria – como al asear la casa o cuidar de mi familia o hacer mi trabajo. Dios está presente y se deja conocer. ¡Simplemente deja que lo conozca! Es difícil de expresar, pero es algo que se ha hecho más y más profundo con el paso del tiempo. Continua todo el día por medio de las oraciones vocales, al rezar el Evangelio, al practicar la presencia de Dios en la vida diaria, al bendecir a las personas con las que me encuentro y con las que trabajo, al reconocer a Cristo en el otro.
