There is a whole period of human developmental consciousness called mythic membership and this was the result of the revolution of society into agricultural communities which was a development, of course, from the hunter/gatherer cultures that lasted thousands of years. The mythic membership is an over-identification with the community so that one draws one’s identity not from one’s own integrity or from the divine relationship we may have developed, but from the expectations of the group which can be very powerful and demanding or cause us to sacrifice our own ideals and convictions in order to be allowed to remain in the group.

Hay un periodo de desarrollo de la consciencia humana llamada asociación mítica y este es el resultado de la revolución de la sociedad en las comunidades agrícolas que fue un desarrollo de las culturas de cazadores/recolectores que duro miles de años. La asociación mítica es una identificación incondicional con la comunidad de donde uno saca su identidad, no desde la propia integridad o de la relación divina que hayamos podido desarrollar, sino de las expectativas del grupo que pueden ser muy poderosas y exigentes o que nos hagan sacrificar nuestros propios ideales y convicciones con el fin de que se nos permita permanecer en el grupo.
