Thomas Keatings’ “Guidelines for Christian Life, Growth, and Transformation” Workshop via Zoom

The title of this workshop, “Guidelines for Christian Life, Growth, and Transformation” is also the title of the 12th and final chapter of Thomas Keatings’ classic primer of Centering Prayer,  Open Mind, Open Heart.  In these guidelines, Thomas offers a conceptual spiritual and theological framework for this simple practice which has led and continues to lead many modern pilgrims to contemplative prayer.  In this workshop we will listen to and discuss these guidelines.  They might provide a conceptual introduction to Centering Prayer for those who are curious, a support for those who are in the middle of the journey, and reminder for long-time practitioners.  They are complementary to the practice of Centering Prayer, which is the heart of the matter.

The Rev. Tom Ward is the retired university chaplain at the University of the South and now spends his days focusing on the contemplative dimension of the gospel, teaching Centering Prayer and leading retreats.
