Are you curious about spiritual transformation?

Do you have a Centering Prayer practice? Or a receptive meditation practice?

This workshop offers the opportunity to learn how to have spiritual conversations that illuminate your personal story and those of others in the context of relationship and prayer. Both intimate and confidential, spiritual learning is a practical way of exploring spiritual transformation in community.

Spiritual learning is a set of learnable skills – focusing, asking, speaking, listening, note-taking, organizing, applying and evaluating; aimed at making meaning of individual and collective spiritual transformation; experienced in small groups.

Participants will experiment with proven techniques for evoking spiritual insights; increase awareness of spiritual growth, especially as a form of celebration to deepen joy, hope and trust; participate in small groups with plenty of support and feedback; and consider options to carry spiritual learning back home, build it into your own life in ways that expand and enrich, and share it with your community.

The price of this retreat reflects the fact that it is a generously underwritten pilot project.

What is spiritual learning?

Spiritual learning is: a set of learnable skills – focusing, asking, speaking, listening, note-taking, organizing, applying and evaluating; aimed at making meaning of individual and collective spiritual transformation; experienced in small groups.

Focusing: There are many ways to explore and discover the nature of spiritual transformation! With spiritual learning, focusing begins with understanding the spectra of spiritual growth and finishes with a specific topic of conversation. Asking is about preparing and proposing good questions. Speaking is about revealing first-hand experiences which often catalyzes awareness and growth. Listening honors others through patience, kindness and rejoices with the truth. Note-taking is about recording some of what’s discussed. Organizing may result in insights that warrant information sharing. Applying is about deliberating practicing what has been learned. Evaluating is a form of discerning which empowers attribution to significance rather than situations or conditions.

The Spiritual Learning Workshop is a first of a kind event for exploring spiritual learning and spiritual growth.

Who is leading the workshop?

Larry Todd Wilson: In 2005, Larry began working with Father Thomas Keating to elucidate the dynamics of spiritual transformation. Since then, Larry has led initiatives to research and organize information about the Spiritual Journey, produce a concordance, adapt knowledge harvesting and organizational learning practices, conduct interviews with elders, and establish an open community to craft resources for spiritual learning. Leslee Anne Terpay: As a retreat leader, Leslee authentically transmits Centering Prayer practice and information about the Spiritual Journey. Leslee also serves as a spiritual director in companion relationships to explore how God’s presence and action appear in life experiences and prayer practices.
